The Highland neighborhood in Denver, Colorado is actually made up to two separate neighborhoods, Highland and West Highland. Highland is the community that is found just northwest of Downtown Denver, and West Highland is found just west of Highland. While each of these communities is considered to be a separate city center, they are commonly referred to as a single development known as the Highlands.

It is easy to find the Highlands; all you have to do is take one of the bridges that crosses west over the river from Downtown Denver. When traveling west into the Highlands you will first enter into Highland, also referred to as East Highland, LoHi and Lower Highland. As these names allude to, Highland has a slightly lower elevation than West Highland, although both communities offer a breathtaking view of Denver.

The Highlands are known for their charming architecture, cultural diversity and trendy business districts. The architecture in this community is historical and a bit eclectic. However, a recent redevelopment trend in these communities has decreased the number of available single family homes and has increased the number of Highland apartments and condominiums. The Highland apartments that have been constructed in recent years are located close to the trendy boutiques, martini bars and restaurants and to Downtown access routes.

When searching for Highland apartments or Denver apartments, it is important to think about what you want in your neighborhood. The Highlands tend to be popular with young professionals looking for unique housing options and for easy access to Denver hotspots. However, this region of town is also great for people looking for a historical home or for an apartment that is above the flood line for the city.
